Team Hybrid: Making It Happen

Every serious import owner is on a never-ending mission to pull out all the stops in creating the best ride that eclipses any other on the scene. Team Hybrid is no exception, and in fact sets the standard for today’s performance automotive enthusiast. They have been steadily generating buzz by landing some high-profile magazine covers, most recently in the January/December issue of Performance Auto & Sound and PASMAG Overdrive. PAS Magazine features two magazines in one with a cover for both, and Team Hybrid made another mark in the history books by landing both covers for the second time. No other team has accomplished this, which goes to show how revered Team Hybrid is by the respect it receives both in print and on the street. AMSOIL is installed in some of their vehicles currently making headlines, including this one from owner Charleston Penesa.

Currently featured on the cover of the latest PASMAG Overdrive, Penesa’s 2006 Mitsubishi EVO IX engine modifications include a Buschur Racing 3076R turbo kit, 1000cc injectors, HKS Super Suction intake system and much more. In keeping up with these high-performance standards they use AMSOIL Series 600 Brake Fluid, AMSOIL Synthetic High Performance 10W-30 Motor Oil and AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter.

alt

AMSOIL covered this feature in the Promotions blog back in July when it was up and coming, and has since followed Penesa and Team Hybrid as they continue pushing the envelope in the import circuit. Founder James Lin received one more testament to their team’s viability at the 2010 SEMA show, learning Team Hybrid was confirmed to be the most published team in Performance Auto & Sound Magazine history. As one of the top three best-selling enthusiast titles in the US and the number one title in Canada, this is no small accomplishment.

AMSOIL is pleased to lend support to such a talented team of enthusiasts. Team Hybrid has the ability to generate buzz and awareness for not only their rides and organization, but the companies that sponsor them. Look for the AMSOIL logo placement on the cover of PASMAG Overdrive and watch for future updates. As they make their mark across the import circuit, Team Hybrid is rising fast and showing no signs of stopping.

A Peek at the Hottest Cars of 2011

Posted: Nov 26, 2010 4:04 PM PST Updated: Nov 26, 2010 4:04 PM PST

LAS VEGAS —  If a new car is on your Christmas wish list and you dread going from one car lot to another, the Motor Trend International Auto Show is the place to be this weekend.

Hundreds of vehicles, from cost-saving hybrids to sports cars, are on display. The auto show opens every year on Black Friday. It’s a car browsing experience with no pressure to buy.

“The automotive industry is revving up. People are excited about new technology,” said Lauren Holzman, Motor Trend International Auto Show.

The latest 2011 models are featured at the show including cars that will put the brakes on your fueling frustrations. If you’re ready to replace your gas guzzler with a hybrid, the all new Chevy Volt, Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, makes its Las Vegas debut. Ford, Cadillac and Toyota also showcase alternative fuel vehicles and there is even a Rolls Royce Ghost.

“If you’re in the market for something special to put under your tree,” said Mas Namik, Towbin Motorcars. It’s only a mere $314,000 and the world famous hood ornament is theft proof.

The show goes will run through the weekend from 9 a.m.  to 7 p.m. Tickets are $8, or free at Subway sandwich shops.

Congratulations to LV Chapter’s Charleston Penesa’s EVO IX for being shown in the event coverage on page 024. Lastly, PAS said on pgs 020-024, “…Team Hybrid are currently at the head of the pack when it comes to the hottest show cars, and we’ve featured many of the great builds from all three teams in the pages of PAS Magazine…. Not to be outdone, Team Hybrid’s Scion xA and xD which were built for the Scion Challenge at SEMA ’06 and ’07 remain as some of the hottest Scion’s in the area, showing how far ahead of the scene the team was when they built these two cars.”

Import Tuner October 2010 – 2dr EVO Mirage

Congratulations to Archie Concon’s Mitsubishi 2dr EVO Mirage in a 6 page full feature in Import Tuner Magazine October 2010 issue, pgs 062-66. Title of Article is called, “Dust Devil. How does an Evolution coupe sound?”

Archie said in the article, “Like a lot of builds, this has been something of an ongoing project… A few fully built show rides later and, “I joined Team Hybrid in 2007, and picked up this Mirage to build as a race and show car.”

Import Tuner wrote, “Concon is director of Team Hybrid’s Las Vegas chapter. “Being a part of Team Hybrid means having to trust the Hybrid formula and over 15 years of tradition. We cover all aspects of the build.” Today, it’s about bringing performance back to the streets, in functional Team Hybrid style.”

Import Tuner also wrote, “The Team Hybrid formula seems to have worked big time for Concon. His once-unassuming Mirage has won 18 awards, was used for Manley Racing’s 2010 catalog, and has made several appearances at the SEMA show.”

These paragraphs in the article were written by Colin Ryan and not someone in Team Hybrid. This is what happens when the industry knows their history, understands the importance and the effects we have had and continue to have in the industry. We are respected on the competition battle grounds (race-street-show) and also, in print by our peers/professionals because History + Tradition + Formula + Innovation + Records + Morals + Ethics + Archie = Team Hybrid, 15 years and counting…

Like I said many times before, anyone can put a team or group together, represent and maybe win here & there, but until the industry and your fellow peers validates you especially in print or your team/group as an entire unit win at the highest level and against the industries best esp. year after year after year, then your just in another team/group chasing dreams. This same philosophy can be applied to members too, but Archie has already validated his place in import history with this beautiful published spread in October 2010 issue of IT (Archie’s 7th feature in mags). Another promise kept and came true for our Hybrid Family (7th full feature of 2010 articles for the team & counting…).

Team Hybrid EVO IX Lands PAS Feature

Charleston Panesa and his 2006 Mitsubishi EVO IX with AMSOIL under the hood has been turning heads in the tuner scene for some time now. A member of Team Hybrid based out of California, Panesa recently landed a feature article in Performance Auto & Sound Magazine titled Generation Nine.

Team Hybrid consists of a group of close-knit enthusiasts who share the same passion for cars, with the philosophy of creating vehicles with total package capabilities: Race-Street-Show. They all know what it takes to make a star in a scene where competition is rampant.

Panesa started his EVO IX project with the goal of creating a show car that could still hold its own as a street car. He succeeded, turning this show-worthy ride into a daily driver capable of over 500-awhp. That much horsepower on a street car alone earns him respect, in addition to the many tweaks and mods that make this EVO IX so unique. He uses E85 fuel, which has major advantages to tuner owners with increased horsepower, lowered cooling charge temps, and reduced emissions. The modification list is extensive, with everything from the inside out redesigned to make it the stunner it is today. From the wide-body kit with its gleaming Tangelo Pearl paint to the explosive sound system installed, it looks every bit the part of a winning show car.

Tuner owners seek out only the best products to stand out and enhance performance, which is how AMSOIL came to be the lubricant of choice for Panesa. We’ll be keeping up with Team Hybrid as they continue solidifying their reputation as a leader in the tuner market.
